Aloha Aina Award

Cathy Bernberg
Aloha ‘Āina REALTOR® Awards
Nomination Letter

Dear Cathy,

You have been nominated for the Aloha ‘Āina REALTOR® Awards Program™ by Albert Brum.

Name:  Cathy Berenberg
Transaction Close Date:  6/9/2021
Address:  46-133 Nahiku Street

Nomination:

I cannot begin to express my appreciation for the amount of time and effort that Cathy Berenberg put into the sale of my Dad’s home in Kaneohe. She not only lived up to expectations, but far exceeded them with her professionalism, her extensive knowledge of the property sales process, her network of contractors to facilitate the necessary work, the sheer amount of time and effort she devoted to the home, and her detailed communication with us throughout the process.

Mom passed away three years ago, and Dad found it necessary to move to a senior community. When he decided it was time to sell their long-time residence of almost 40 years, Cathy was my first call. Being out of state, it was comforting to know I had someone right there I could count on. Although the house had been well cared for, it needed significant renovations to present its best showing. She guided us through many decisions of what was necessary to target in maximizing the value of the sale without spending money needlessly. Renovations in older homes commonly produce surprises and this house was no exception.

Cathy met these complications with the competence that only experience, and knowledge can bring. Cathy has a very hands-on style and is no stranger to hard work. There were many days where she would spend many hours stripping wallpaper, demolishing old flooring, painting, taking loads to the dump, picking up supplies, showing up in a hard hat, and working directly with contractors. She was also thorough in making sure that the final listing product was one of excellent quality and that potential buyers would not inherit any substandard issues.

When the renovations were complete, she asked her sister (who is an Interior Designer) to fly out and perform her staging magic. It turned out beautifully using some of Cathy’s own hand crafted furniture pieces to highlight areas. The house was completely transformed, and the final product brought tears to our eyes!

She invested in top notch advertising which was rewarded with over fifty people visiting the open house. This was immediately followed by six written offers and four verbal offers. She also assisted with sifting through the offers and helped us determined which contract would be the most solid. We accepted not necessarily the highest offer, but the right offer with confidence. The closing went smoothly as she anticipated.

Cathy also assisted us with a difficult rental property sale on Maui three years ago and referred us to an excellent Real Estate Agent who listed and eventually sold the property. I imagine that most referring Realtors step out of the picture at that point and are happy to accept payment of the customary commission. Cathy stayed in communication with us and the listing agent as needed and was very reassuring along the way of a very difficult sales process. Her assistance was invaluable for this past transaction also.

The respect, integrity, and Aloha that Cathy brought to this typically arduous transaction was outstanding and we could not be more pleased with the outcome! She has earned this nomination for the Aloha Aina Realtor Awards Program many times over. I thank you for

considering Cathy Berenberg for this prestigious award.
